FBR Extends Sales Tax Return Deadline

FBR Extends Sales Tax Return Deadline to August 4, 2025

But You Must Pay Your Tax on Time to Use the Extension

If you don’t pay your tax on time, you won’t be able to use the extended date for filing.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline to file Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for June 2025. Now, you can submit your return by August 4, 2025, instead of the earlier date, July 18, 2025.

However, there’s one important condition:

Who Got the Notification?

FBR sent this update to:

  • Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs)
  • Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTOs)
  • Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs)
  • Regional Tax Offices (RTOs)

FBR used its authority under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, to make this decision.

What This Means for You

This extension gives you more time to file your return, but you still need to pay your tax on time. If you don’t, you may face penalties and lose the benefit of the new deadline.

What You Should Do:

  1. Check your sales tax amount for June 2025.
  2. Pay it before the original due date (July 18, 2025).
  3. Then file your return any time before August 4, 2025.

This step helps taxpayers manage their time better while making sure the government gets the tax payments on time.
